Winter 2009
November 14, 2009

Peeking out a crack in the front door,
the air is cold against me skin, again –
Even though our made-up days
offer us the illusion of time in certainty
Winter is whispering “I am here.”

Winter, when I sit and wait,
for the sun to appear again,
through the fingers of morning mist in the field

Where hummingbirds search for nectar
in the nearly frozen feeders,
buzzing the windows in gratitude

When I can see my breath,
feel my bones, and bend more slowly
more mindful of the frozen ground
also waiting, again

What will this winter offer that I will accept?
Perhaps clarity in the biting wind,
brightness causing my eyes to close,
or compassion in the coldness
the distance and isolation

Present and waiting, I close the door
my skin still tingling with chill
I sit and smile, breathe and sniffle
whispering back, “I am here too.”

Re(e)volution

August 6, 2009

The end,
it ended long ago
It will never end
Wasn’t it just yesterday……

I didn’t want it to end
(yes, you did)
I’ll never know why
So.

Whose to blame?
Why do you ask?

Just trying to find the ground
(you’re standing on it)
Oh, here.
There is no ground,
Oh, yeah, right
No, not right, huh?
Yes.

Forward, and onward
Where?
Nope, no answers yet
More questions?
(you know the answer)
When will it make sense?
What?
All of it!
Now

Prayer for 2009

The full moon is not the only light tonight.
Fireworks burst into song
Celebrating the coming of the Light

But do we have to wait?
Must we continue to huddle
in our hand-crafted dwellings
only looking out?
Must I close my eyes too long...
too silently...
Liberation is at hand,
and all I need do is release my grasp.

Help me, dear One...help Us...
to walk naked in the snow
to receive the mirror with wonder
          to hold ourselves gently

Help me, dear One...help Us...
          to give, when in doubt
          to surrender to groundlessnes
          to welcome death

Help me, dear One... help Us...
to return to our faithful wisdom
to give shelter to the dark and the light
          to risk kindness

We have only this breath,
may we take each one and give each one
with the fullness of the moon.

Let Us Light and sing Our way
within this mystery.

May the whole world be wrapped in the enduring gift of Peace.

The Angel of Adjarra

My own heart knew, and kept the secret
of how the Light of the nameless guides me to Thou

You with your smiling rivers of Joy
Bringing the world to those who could not conceive of it
Reaching out your hand, to place in another's - Freedom
Collecting the Hopes of people
bringing it back to them one hundred fold
honestly, humbly

Calling to the finest places in each of us, to recognize
the life giving potential we all have to offer -
and must if We are to survive

You call me an angel, and yet it is you
who walked to the table already displaying
your full glorious expanse
You reveal radiance in the span of each moment
You inspire surrender to the Heart for the sake
of the whole world.

Coming to a place of promise, eyes wide open
knowing "how" is not of our domain
clarity did not fade your dreams
and with the gratitude of a thousand wings
You accept the cloak of your calling
offering to clothe us all in the loving arms
of One
